The actual summary:

Lyle was from a more or less normal family in Ireland. Two parents, an older twin brother and a younger sister. However, his twin - Neil - was considered to be basically the golden child of the family, and Lyle hated being compared to Neil - indeed the constant comparisons left him with something of an inferiority complex. So, rather than stay and fight for recognition of his own, he elected to leave home and attend boarding school staring in middle school. Therefore, he wasn't home very often which soon proved to be a mixed blessing as a terrorist attack by an organization known as the KSPA took the lives of his parents and sister. Neil survived, but this basically just left the two of them on their own.

Neil had a very strong emotional reaction to this, and it continued to haunt him and motivate him the rest of his life. Lyle, on the other hand, in part due to his physical separation from the event had a much more empty, cold feeling. And instead of choosing to dedicate himself to revenge, he did his best to move on with his life. After that, he and Neil did not have very much contact, and the contact stopped altogether save for Neil sending him money for schooling once Neil joined Celestial Being. Despite the lack of contact, out of respect for his brother, Lyle dedicated himself to his studies, being careful with the money and basically trying to make the most of his life. He studied economics and eventually was employed by a top trading company, and so life went one...

But then the fire nation attacked.

I mean. But then an organization known as Celestial Being made itself public, beginning a series of armed interventions with the ultimate goal of eradicating war. In response, eventually much of the rest of the world united against them, and Celestial Being was temporarily defeated and scattered. Among those Celestial Being members killed was Neil, though Lyle did not learn of this at the time. Over the next four years, the world was brought under the control of the United Federation government, and an additional independent peacekeeping force known as the A-Laws was created to both unify everyone and eliminate Celestial Being as well as any need for Celestial Being. However, their tactics were at time extremely brutal, and the Federation and A-Laws both were unmerciful in how they dealt with dissidents, viewing any anti-government force as a threat and using both force and information manipulation to quash any resistance.

In response to this, Lyle wound up joining one of the main resistance groups known as Katharon, where he served as both a spy for them and one of their mobile suit pilots, scoring several victories in their skirmishes. Eventually, however, he was contacted by one of the surviving Gundam Meisters code-named Setsuna F. Seiei and asked to meet up. At this meeting, Setsuna revealed to Lyle that his brother had been the pilot code-named Lockon Stratos and had died four years prior (confirming something Lyle had probably already known was a very distinct possibility on some level, as Neil had left him his car, a Lancia Rally 037). Setsuna then asked Lyle to join Celestial Being as the new Lockon Stratos and allayed his suspicions by also passing on information about an imminent attack on one of the Katharon division headquarters.

After some consideration and consultation with other members of Katharon, Lyle decided to join up with Celestial Being, albeit operating as something of a double agent and passing on information to Katharon. Given their similar objectives of eliminating the A-Laws and seeing a freer future for the world, this really wasn't much of a problem for anyone involved. Although Lyle did his best to keep his connection to Katharon somewhat secret, when the rest of Celestial Being eventually figured it out... no one really cared.

Anyway, at first it was pretty clear that when everyone in Celestial Being (with the notable exception of Tieria Erde, one of the other Gundam Meisters; Neil had had a huge influence on Tieria and consequently Tieria was keenly aware of the twins' differences) would look at Lyle, they'd be reminded of Neil, and although he willingly adopted the same identity, when people look at him and saw Neil instead, he grew annoyed. Consequently it took a while before he opened up more to other Celestial Being members and indeed he made efforts to point out to people that he was not his brother, going so far as to deliberately be hurtful to one of the other members of Celestial Being to really drive that point home to her. But despite the rough start, he settled in well enough and got along pretty well in time. When he joined, he lied and said he had no mobile suit piloting experience but it was probably pretty damn obvious to everyone after a couple battles that his aim (second only to the former Lockon Stratos') and piloting skills weren't just beginner's luck. However there wasn't much point in calling him on it since they needed all the skilled help they could get. And soon enough he had a place as the team sniper and additional pilot. He also soon enough learned more about how and why his brother had died and learned of Ali Al-Sancheez, the man who had killed Neil.

Eventually it came to light that the ones pulling the strings behind the Federation and the A-Laws were a group of artificial humans known as the Innovades lead by one named Ribbons Almark. Supposedly they, too, were meant to be a part of the original plan of Aeolia, the man who created the Gundams' GN Drives and laid out the groundwork for Celestial Being two centuries prior, and according to Ribbons, the Innovades were meant to guide humanity and prepare them for the 'dialogues to come.' Celestial Being thought that the way Ribbons was going about this was utterly wrong, so their goal shifted from merely stopping the damage of the A-Laws to stopping the Innovades.

During this time, they fought a lot of battles and often wound up getting support from Katharon as well as helping them out in turn at times. And they also gained new members, recruited here and there. One such member, recruited to the Celestial Being base in space, was a woman named Anew Returner. In time, she and Lyle became romantically involved falling very much in love with each other. At first they kept it a secret until Lyle confessed his love for her over the intercom in front of the whole crew right before leaving on a mission to capture one of the Innovades to try and pump him or her for information.

During their trysts, Lyle had noticed that sometimes Anew's eyes would develop the glow associated with someone using quantum brainwaves and that when that happened, it meant that an enemy attack was not far off. Putting two and two together, he realized that she, too, was an Innovade, but because he loved her he didn't reveal what he knew to anyone else.

Unfortunately, the Innovade that Celestial Being captured was Revive, the one who was Anew's genetic counterpart, and after being captured Revive communicated with Anew via their quantum brain waves. Together the two Innovades broke out and escaped Celestial Being's hold. Although at one point Lyle had a clear shot to take out their escaping craft, he found himself unable to pull the trigger. Setsuna, realizing that Lyle would be unable to ever bring himself to kill Anew and if anything had much more of a reason not to fight her, told Lyle that if it came to it, Setsuna would be the one to pull the trigger.

Sadly, this is exactly what happened. Soon enough, Anew joined the other Innovades in an attack on Celestial Being. Lyle fought with her and mostly disabled her suit but did not kill her, instead trying to reach out to her and bring her back. It almost worked, but Ribbons was able to hijack her body and use her to keep attacking Lyle. This forced Setsuna to intervene and shoot Anew and her suit to save Lyle's life. In that moment, however, the GN particles from Setsuna's Gundam and its special twin drive system enabled Lyle and Anew to have a final few moments together on a quantum plane. Afterwards, Lyle was distraught in a way he had never been before and wound up taking out some of his pain on Setsuna by beating him up before breaking down sobbing. It took him some time to move past his anger towards Setsuna for that.

Eventually everything came to a head, with Katharon, the A-Laws, Celestial Being and the Innovades all converging in one final epic battle. Through the help of allies both expected and unexpected, Celestial Being broke through to the Innovades' mothership. There, Lyle encountered the man responsible ultimately both for the bombing that killed his parents and sister and Neil's eventual death in combat. They fought, and Lyle ultimately won. However, Ali escaped his mobile suit and attempted to run. Lyle gave chase and after shooting Ali in the shoulder, he started to give Ali a second chance for some sort of redemption. However, Ali started to grab his gun to take advantage of that hesitation, and Lyle immediately shot him dead then left him there, returning to the battlefield.

Ultimately, after a long hard fight they triumphed over the Innovades with Setsuna evolving into a new, true innovator along the way. What this means is that he transcended ordinary humanity in a way, with his mind and abilities evolving - all in truth part of Aeolia's original plan of preparing humanity for the dialogues to come...

After all this, Lyle decided to stay with Celestial Being and cut his ties with Katharon. He vowed to continue fighting for the peaceful future of the world.

But wait! There's more! Call in the next twenty minutes and we'll double your order!

Two years later....

Celestial Being is still doing its thing from the shadows, albeit with considerably more limited funds. They keep to themselves mostly, only intervening in subtle ways when necessary so as not to draw any ire from the newly reformed world government.

But then aliens attack!

No I'm actually completely serious there. Aliens dubbed the ELS (short for Extraterrestrial Living-Metal Shape-shifters) arrive. The first wave shows up on a derelict deep space probe, and the initial encounters with humans are intensely destructive as they take over vehicles and other metal objects, going after humans who possess high levels of quantum brain waves. Lyle heads back to earth to pick up a few members of CB with high levels of such brain waves who had left to pursue their own goals.

Setsuna, being the only true Innovator among Celestial Being, could sense things from the ELS that he didn't really understand. However, desiring to know why they had come and what they wanted, Setsuna used his Gundam to create a field of GN particles and attempted to use this to make telepathic contact with the ELS. Unfortunately this backfired as he was overwhelmed, and the ELS attacked his Gundam. The other pilots were able to rescue him albeit at the cost of Setsuna's Gundam and Tieria's Gundam as well as the body Tieria was using at the time. (At the end of the conflict with the Innovades and the A-Laws, Tieria, being an Innovade himself, had his consciousness and memories uploaded to Veda, the quantum supercomputer that guided the carrying out of Aeolia's plan. He was thus able to simply construct himself a new body as needed.) Setsuna was left comatose for a time while his mind recovered.

Meanwhile, the world braced itself for a major alien attack, remobilizing its militaries. Humanity formed a last line of defense against the approach, while Celestial Being prepared a new Gundam built specifically for Setsuna and the Veda to try communication again, this time better equipped to manage the incoming data. While waiting for Setsuna to wake up to utilize this Gundam, all of humanity's military forces and Celestial Being fought for survival and to defend the earth. When Setsuna finally does wake up, they continue to fight to get Setsuna close enough to the ELS main unit to be able to communicate. Lyle in particular was determined to keep on fighting until communication could be established. Not only was it their duty as Celestial Being to fight for the future, but also he firmly believed that it could be done, just how he and Anew had come to understand each other - and lo, his hopes proved well founded as at last Setsuna was able to establish communication, and the fighting abruptly stopped. The main core of the ELS transformed into a giant flower as a symbol to everyone its cessation of hostilities.

After this, Setsuna and Tieria set out with the ELS to return to the ELS homeworld to help further understanding. Lyle stayed on earth and worked with the remnants of Celestial Being to help humanity progress to the future. /o/

Reincarnated History:
[ It is important to note that Lyle is being apped in as Neil Dylandy's ([personal profile] hotshots) younger twin brother and therefore also Amy Dylandy's ([personal profile] feastorfamine) other older brother. This arrangement is with their players' permission. ]

In the reincarnation, Lyle and Neil are still identical twins, and Lyle is still the younger of the two by a few minutes. Therefore, much of their early reincarnated history is the same.

Lyle and his twin brother Neil were born in 1983 if my math is right in Locke City, NJ. Their father owned and ran a bar inherited from their grandfather, and there they grew up. All in all, it was a pretty normal childhood. Between the two brothers, Neil received the brunt of familial pressure to follow in the footsteps of other men in the family and join the military, leaving Lyle to feel more like he could do whatever he wanted without worrying about living up to anyone's standards but his own - particularly since Neil seemed inclined to buck family tradition. At least... until 9/11. Then Neil went off to join the military, but Lyle - left feeling more cold and disgusted by the terrorist attack than anything else - instead decided to continue to pursue his own goals all the same and went on to college.

Even as a child, Lyle was inclined towards exploration and seeing what else was out there besides their city, and so in school he applied himself very hard with the idea of getting out and away and doing other things. He wanted to make some sort of difference in the world - particularly after 9/11 when he decided that a good way to do that, to ensure that the world was safer in his own way, was to join the FBI. So in high school in particular he did his best to work towards scholarships and save up money for college. Once in college, he studied electrical engineering and criminal justice (when he could fit the credits in). He deliberately tried to get internships outside of New Jersey in undergrad and then accepted a job with one of the companies he interned with. He worked for the next three or four years, concentrating mainly on trying to pay off any student loans as well as putting whatever he could into savings for - whatever. If something happened back home or if he decided one day to travel around the world or who knew what.

Once he was sufficiently qualified to actually apply for the FBI (i.e. he had his degree, had worked in industry at least three years, etc.), he applied for and eventually made it through all the processes and then the training until at long last he succeeded in becoming a special agent. And that is where he has been working since, aside from vacation days of course. He visits home from time to time and emails his siblings and mother. Of course he came home for a while when his brother was honorably discharged with his injury and then for his father's funeral, but he is ever inclined to move on from tragedy rather than wallow and he spends most of his time working.

First Echo:

Lyle is in Nevada on an assignment, and he winds up in the Las Vegas area airport, waiting around for a plane when some of the stuff going on in Locke City pops up on the news in the terminal. He is, of course, worried because hey his family lives there. Then, a bit later he gets a call from Neil telling him about the robots and all that jazz. This experience of seeing the news and also hearing about a shocking event back home triggers his first echo.

Memory: Being at boarding school and receiving the news about his family's deaths in a terrorist bombing.

note: This will leave him with a bad feeling, and he'll definitely want to get a transfer back to Locke City, especially with the added news of Neil's involvement. Therefore, I'm imagining this first echo took place probably a week or two prior to when he'd show up in game, having had his transfer request finally go through.

Preincarnation Personality:
Lyle is a man who lives very much for the present and the future. He has a strong sense of justice and a keen desire to see the world made right. Although he has suffered the loss of all of his family and the woman he loved, he does not let himself get bogged down by the tragedy of his past. Instead, he uses their memories as motivation to fight for a better future for everyone. He does not want anyone else to lose their own loved ones due to conflicts and misunderstandings like that. That said, he does not judge those driven by their pasts and a need for revenge, like his brother. At first he did not entirely understand relying on that motivation, but after the death of Anew and facing Ali Al-Sanchez,the one responsible for the deaths of his family, he grew to understand that anger and bitterness more. Even so, he refuses to let himself be dragged down by it and keeps on striving for the future.

Despite his better control over his temper, he can still be provoked into anger and will still rush forward recklessly to protect people he cares about. But most of the time, he remains good humored. He is easy-going and comes across as very carefree, more liable to try and lighten the mood with some teasing or joking or flirting than bring it down. (Though, of course, he can be serious when he needs to be.) He cares very much about the people he considers friends and pays close attention to what's going on with them. And when he thinks one of them needs some well meaning advice, he's there to give it and lend a bit of support. Moreover, he is usually straightforward and very direct about his intentions (when not playing the spy, anyway). Nevertheless, beneath this outer layer of charm, he is pretty cautious and can take a while to warm up to people especially if for any reason they compare him to his brother.

Being compared to Neil is a major triggering factor for canon Lyle. When they were growing up, because they're identical twins, Neil and Lyle were constantly being compared, and of the two, Neil was looked on as the superior one, being just a little bit more talented than Lyle in some ways. This led Lyle to feel inferior, and rather than stick around and fight for his own recognition, Lyle instead chose to run away, leaving home to attend a boarding school. And for better or worse, this separation was never really bridged. His parents and sister were killed while he was at school, and because of the lack of immediacy, he was left just feeling cold and detached from it, while Neil burned with anger and a thirst for revenge. In time, the brothers stopped communicating at all, though this was more due to Neil than to Lyle. Neil would sent money home to Lyle for schooling and whatnot, and out of respect for his brother, Lyle made good use of it, studying hard and doing his best not to let any of it turn out a waste.

However, that inferiority complex haunts him for the rest of his life. When he joins Celestial Being, most of the other personnel initially look at him and see Neil, and in consequence Lyle takes some at times drastic measures to distinguish himself. For example, knowing that it would upset her, he kisses Feldt, a girl who seemed to have something of a crush on Neil. She slaps him in return, but he doesn't mind because at least now that anger will serve to cement in her mind that he is a different person. He also found that in training exercises, his accuracy scores never seemed to get above Neil's, just reinforcing that idea that he's forever behind.

Still, there is a wonderful sense of completion when it is he, of all people, who finally defeats Ali Al-Sanchez and avenges his brother. But even then, it is worth noting that Lyle does not act on pure, blinding hatred there. He even gives Ali a chance for proper surrender, but when Ali seeks to take advantage of that, Lyle has no hesitation nor inaccuracy from emotions. He shoots Ali three times to ensure that the man is dead, and although there is relief there, there's no real sense of celebration.

Any Differences:
> Lyle lacks the inferiority complex that motivated and defined a lot of Lyle's early choices, as Lyle and Neil have a much better relationship than in canon. They're still a bit distant now due to physical distance, but they spent the first eighteen years of their life living together in a normal family. While being compared to his brother can be a bit annoying, it's not nearly as big of a deal for Lyle, and he just shrugs it off.

> Lyle's motivation for doing well in school is entirely for his own sake and not out of any respect for Neil or anyone else. Though he still possesses a strong sense of justice and a desire to see things right with the world, he also possesses something of a wanderlust in that he wants to see more of the world than just Locke City, NJ. He has an extra exploratory streak to him.

> He is a law-abiding citizen and works for the government. Consequently, he's going to be a bit disturbed when he realizes that he was a terrorist in another life…..

> He is also more genuinely open with people and less cautious (aside, of course, from the professional caution befitting an FBI agent) due to the lack of the family tragedy.

Abilities:
[ note: abilities that he has even reincarnated include some technical skills and combat and espionage training. He knows his way around guns and basic tactics here, albeit from a more law enforcement perspective than rebel group / organized paramilitary terrorist group perspective. ]

Marksmanship: While Lyle's skills aren't quite as godly as Neil's, he's still a pretty damn amazing shot. He prefers fighting with pistol type weapons in some sort of gunkata like way over using sniper rifles, but despite this preference, he is still deadly in his accuracy.

Gundam Piloting Skills: Although he has first one and then later two Haro units to help him manage the operation of the Gundam and the remote control shield / gun bits in particular, he still needs some good piloting skills to fly this thing.

Haros: Lyle learns how to make use of these cute little robots to help him pilot his Gundam. Presumably he also knows how to use them for normal computing and stuff by hooking them up to terminals and whatnot.

Espionage stuffs: As part of Katharon and later as part of Celestial Being (as seen briefly during the movie), Lyle engages in spy work at times. So he knows about how code words get used and all that jazz.

Gundams: Yaaay. Ok so he basically pilots three Gundams over the course of the series, though they have upgrades and other parts to them. Dynames Repair, Cherudim and Zabanya.

Dynames Repair is Neil's suit, uh... rebuilt, so it will not be able to be echoed since Neil already has his suit. It is repaired and runs with a GN condenser, which is basically a battery charged with GN particles. It therefore has limited range and use.

Cherudim and Zabanya, meanwhile, are entirely new suits. However, they all make use of the same GN Drive as the original Dynames, transferred between units. Therefore, if either one is echoed back, it will have to be echoed back sans GN Drive, alas - unless he is permitted to echo it with the Dynames Repair's condenser, which would at least permit a limited operational time. I suppose we'll have to wait and see. c:

Roleplay Sample - Third Person:
Sample threads here!

Roleplay Sample - Network:

[ video ]

[ Lyle looks kind of annoyed when he pops on the network via his cell phone, frowning at the camera. ]

This is Special Agent Lyle Dylandy of the FBI, for those of you who don't already know. [ His tone is also a bit impatient and exasperated. ]

I can't believe I really have to remind you all of this, but apparently some people still aren't listening. Rooftops, mall parking lots, are not acceptable places to park your mobile suits, spaceships, planes, giant birds and other otherworldly transportation and combat devices.

We have several hangars and warehouses set aside expressly for this purpose.

Consider this the last warning - if it keeps up, we will start issuing fines.

Any Questions?

I send you guys a pp about it, but just to make sure I'm asking here as well.

I want to make absolutely sure it is okay for Lyle to be a member of the FBI. If it is, I was wondering if it would be ok if he winds up being assigned a sort of liaison role between the FBI and numbers club or even just those involved with giant robots?

He's well suited for it in that he is both someone with access to the number network and is a member of the FBI, and the kind of sort of double agent thing might neatly echo his canon experience as a kind of sort of double agent.
